I am sitting cross-legged on the couch right now, half-doonafied, eating bananas. The laptop is balanced on one knee, a penny-rat has just mooched over to rest her head in my lap, and we're watching buffy while I'm reading MOTH.

Have a raging headache and feel like shit, but I am happy ^_^

Yes working on five stories at once atm. Which is actually in the upper echelons, even for me and my demented brain.

The one that's really driving me batshit though is that Possessed!Holmes req from the KinkMeme. It's taking longer than it should because while I've written more than my share of heebie jeebies, I want to be pretty damned sure I don't end up writing what's essentially a Holmesian remake of Incubus. I'm completely and utterly not above cannibalising my own work - but at least I have the dignity to do it from stories that aren't published for various reasons (wording isn't right, or it just plain doesn't work - most of you know how I write, it's a long dysenteric stream of conciousness for the most part! So even if the story as a whole is hacked to pieces, certain prized phrases will make their way out :P)

And I've read waaay too much Lovecraft, so I'm also walking the tightrope that is Victorian Otherwordly Demonic Horror That Isn't A Blatant Ripoff. Fuck, I'd play with Cthuhlu mythos until the Shoggoths came home in a crossover, but this ISN'T a crossover, so they can bugger off and go back to eating Elder Things. Plus I keep getting diverted by stupid things like trying to work out if an Avestan word would have been used among Indian migrants in London in the 19th century. (Yes, yes I know, not strictly Indian Indians, but considering the time period there's that whole delightfully dogpiled "everyone is an Indian" mindset so I can eke past in that manner. )

BUT I HAS WATSON SPEAKING PASHTO. SO I AM WIN (Come on, you honestly think he wouldn't have picked up a few words? He'd have to at least know how to say "I AM JOHN MOTHERFUCKING WATSON, PREPARE TO DIE" in half a dozen languages. Or perhaps not, because he is so awesomely awesome he is known worldwide. There are undiscovered tribes in the darkest Amazon that tremble in fear at the mere sight of a moustache.)

Alas, the meme seems to be petering somewhat :( I miss my daily batshit. And I've developed a terrible new habit of abusing parentheses.

Was planning on doing over the other half of the veggie garden today, but I was a lazy shit for the morning. And then it started absolutely fucking piss-storming (check the gallery!). We didn't get hit hard past a shit-ton of rain (YAY for living Bayside!), but my mum is bitching about hail the size of golfballs over in Chadstone. My younger sister is probably currently under five meters of water :P Freak Storm Cell indeed.

If it holds off a bit tomorrow I'll get stuck into the garden, wetness be damned. The soil will be easier to turn, and those peas I've been raising from seed damned well need transplanting. But until then, I shall sit smug and secure within my house and sneer out the windows at it.

Had today off work. Thought I'd slept last night, but apparently did not because I was utterly arsed this morning. Apparently I slept through my boss calling three times after I'd spoken to him. With the phone less than a foot from my head.

Those of you who know how I like my music can imagine how fucking loud I have that thing jacked to hear it over my iPod. And it vibrates like a masochist's sex toy. :/

Finally surfaced some time around 1, chased up some network stuff for work and flomped with the ratties under the aircon and slept s'more.

Then got bored and made an icon, thus turning this meandering twitterfest into a GIP. I warned you I was gonna do it, [livejournal.com profile] collegeanna19! :P

Context is everything! Out of context...well, hilarity ensues.

Been considered for munchings upon by the virus thing going around work. Evidently I am edibl - yesterday was the honking snot-drizzled body aches, last night was fever and blargies. and this morning....well I don't remember much about that. I hope [livejournal.com profile] torasin or I called in sick.....

Conked for around 18 hours, currently schlepping about trying not to throw up the snot that's backwashed. Ughh. And playing with my new shineh - got a DVD/VCR recorder the other day (they didn't have my damned laptop last weekend, so we upped the getting of the unit instead) and I'm merrily dubbing over my giant farking archive of taped material. Anyone want Weird science eps? No? La Femme Nikita? No? Flodders films? :D :D (apart from you, [livejournal.com profile] moonmip)

I'd forgotten how freaking funny Weird Science (the SERIES) was. Knew there was a reason I kept the tapes...and it's not for how damned good Michael Manasseri looks in tights. And half naked. And wet.

Well, not entirely...

- Launched Thumper into my own face last night while playing Zelda. All four claws, right in mush. I now have a heath-ledgeresque scratch running from the side of my mouth that makes me look like I'm about to commit acts of mass mayhem. I kinda like it.

-- There is a new ad running down here with goths going nuts on space hoppers. If it's attempting to be out of the ordinary, or edgy: it fails. We all know what happens when you give a goth any sort of new toy to play with....

--- I has bought a new (read: non-parental) copy of Robots of Dawn. The cover is delightfully fucked up - a mix between the classic "wtf?" 70's sci fi covers, and something from a harlequin. God dammit, if I didn't already ship Daneel/Giskard (AND YOU KNOW IT'S TRUFAX), I'd be tempted ...goddammit

---- Offered to make a chain mail posing pouch for a co-worker to wear when cricketing. This workplace definitely has possibilities :P

----- I now has a Bashir (Trials and Tribble-ations model) to go with the myriad of other figurines dotting my office. I shall forever mock his TOS hairdo. Mwahahahaa.

Still ain't dead.

Work has been nuts and I'm a fairly boring person *shrugs* Although I did finally get off my arse and make that guitar hanger for the lounge *nods*

poor [livejournal.com profile] torasin got tripped by one rat yesterday when taking out the perspex top floor of the rat cage to clean it, did a frantic snatch grab to stop it decapitating another rat, then swore most mightily when he discovered the inevitable impact with the hardwood broke it. Then he swore even harder today when he went to Bunnings to get a new piece and found out how much they cost :P (About $60 for a 1mx.5m piece, which I then have to trim to cage dimensions and ladder wells..)

The rats are being very apologetic to him right now.

Watching Psyche under the pretence of dicking about with the MeeVee. Need some down time for self-pitying after an emo moment this morning. I blame work. I'm surrounded by pretty little pieces of snappily dressed fantastic looking fluff women that remind me that I'll never look or be like that. Pah.

I needs me some good trek porn. Points me at the comms, people!

Work has been mixtures of win and blah. My role is shifting somewhat, I'm now in meetings everywhere for redesigns of stuff from the corporate network and infrastructure to policies and procedures. And in charge of the proxies. And the SEP. And bringing in new and updated monitoring equipment. Fwee. I'm relieving the pressure by wandering around singing "PEWS ON A BOAT! PEWS ON A BOAT! EVERYBODY LOOK AT BEANS 'COS SHE'S SAILING ON A BOAT" at the rats.

BTW, the Yoshi theme music? Intrigues the living fuck out of the herd. And Mo goes crazy every time I do a boss level. Sometimes I can barely see the screen for the lapful of furry faces peering at the gameplay.

Star Trek was of the win. I know it's a bit divisive in parts for fans, but as someone who grew up with this, it got my approval so fat virginal wanky fans can engage me in arguments and I shall smite them. SMITE THEM! (Although seriously, they weren't kidding about the lens flare bonanza!) Although I don't recall Nimoy looking quite that much like a troll doll :P

Picked up House of the Dead 1&2 (Not the bang bang box, although that's on my shopping list) and a Wii Zapper so mowing down the undead and reliving the 90's will be my forte this weekend. Mwahahaha. Also scored a shuttle on Ebay, so that will either become the new MeeVee (Giving us more room for the soon-to-come new speaker system in the lounge) or the MP3 machine for the Man Room depending on its performance.

mm. Shineh toys. Me like shineh toys.

Went a bit over budget this pay (I missed out a weeks pay due to my friggin' back) but dammit, I deserve treats. And so does [livejournal.com profile] torasin - we went halves and he finally got that shiny new EEE PC he's been drooling over since time immemorial (And to be honest, most of the over budget was me over-compensating in shoring up various things that took a dent with the months hiatus in pay, so health insurance, various utilities and the rat savings are well fatted calves) And my con DVD came! I shall rip all manner of Petey and Stricko things and post them all over the internets, yes I will :D

*kicks back and relaxes* Still getting used to these two day weekend things. But I'll adapt...

Christmas Special - Suffered in places from Fridge Logic, but HOLY SHIT MORRISSEY WAS MAGNIFICENT. And now I emo for he shall never be 11 12. *woobies*

Every day I creep closer and closer to snapping and replying to yet another insane chasepan question with "FOR GODS SAKE STOP POSTING. JUST STOP. FUCKING. POSTING. WE HATES YOU"

Still not king.

And there is a large, hairy queenslander in my house. )

Hit Southland on Thursday night and picked up the piping and some new hammock material, along with some odds and sods - including LoM s2 for $25 (!), the Jurassic Park trilogy, the Indiana Jones quartet and DAAS (YAAAAY) and the bits to hang a nice solar shade over the BBQ area and refit our soon-to-be poolhall garage. And some presents. Spent most of the week cleaning up after stampeding rats, making dust covers for the heaters for summer, some emergency hammocks for the introduction and this and that.

Introductions went...Well surprisingly well. We started with three (Beans, Muse and Pinky) in the bedroom while it was being cleaned, and after a few "I am NOT your bitch!" lessons from Paggles, the babies are falling into line. Added Thumper shortly afterwards and they're all tucked up in the redesigned cage getting used to living each other before we introduce the other four. Poor Muse had a bit of a hard time of it, with her "everything must be investigated closely in fine detail" snifflings earning a few "And this is me sidling sideways to miss piggy kung fu you if you start anything" moments from Paggles, but at the moment Muse is the only one Paggles has allowed into the nesting box. (Unsurprising considering the other three are a bit cracked and she was completely over the hyperactivity by that point)

Scrubbed down the bedroom to make it a bit less Paggle's Sole Domain-ish, stripped the bed and moved out the trolley - we're taking the opportunity to sand that thing down and finally repaint it, as we've been meaning to do so since 2005 >.<. Cleaned the bathroom, cleaned the kitchen and reorganised a few things in preparation for our new storage unit, and cutting the last of the fabric for hammocks for us, them, [livejournal.com profile] jagwire and probably [livejournal.com profile] moonmip if she ever gets back to me on the material.

May swap meet today - my MS mouse has decided it shall no longer right-click, and the UST one I'm currently using tracks like a drunken boyscout. Plus I need to pick up the meat so I can make and freeze a shiteload of pies for summer din dins, and then I have more hammocks to make and a kitchen to re-arrange. THEN I need to repair the porch, hang the solar shade and have another crack at the guttering. And clean out the man room. And go to Southland again to pick up more piping. Busy busy busy!

But DAMN it's gonna look good when done :)
