I keep waiting for everyone to rant and go OMG CHEAT CHEAT CHEAT but it's not....
Because the Doctor never died at Lake Silencio. The fixed point is the fact that the Teselecta was destroyed. Always has been. It's the perception of what happened that everyone had wrong.
There is no cheat. There is no "faking it". By preventing the destruction of the Teselecta, River broke time. By bringing together the opposing ends, time snapped back to its proper course, the Teselecta was destroyed and the fixed point remained as it had always been.
