Back in hospital for the next round of chemo.

Every fucking time I know it's just another chance for them to accidentally kill me with their own stupidity. The law of averages is not my friend. "

This one started off rather auspiciously right off the fucking bat at admissions.

Mum gives me a lift. We get there at 1:20.
"My name's [livejournal.com profile] taleya, booked in for ward 44south for chemo."
*fucks about* "Oh you'll have to wait about 20 mins. She's on lunch" (<--- WHAT. THE. FUCK. I used to work with computers not a ward full of fucking cancer patients and if no one was there to man my post, I didn't get fucking lunch)
*40 mins later*
"41 north is a children's ward. You're 31 years old. They aren't expecting you. I called and checked."
"4. 4. south" (You inbred idiot)
*sighs and calls them*
"OH! You should have been there at 1:30. You shouldn't be late, you know."

On top of mispronouncing my surname so badly and REPEATEDLY that we ended up yelling the correction at her. Which prompted a snooty look and a "Some people pronounce it that way" (Which got the response from me: "If it's spelled differently") Some people? Which people? In 30 years I have never heard ANYONE pronounce my surname that way. It's pretty fucking phonetic. In forty years my mother has never heard anyone pronounce it that way.

Real fucking auspicious start right there.

Well, she sounds like a bright fucking spark o.O Hi, lady, you work in admissions. Surely KNOWING WHAT WARD PEOPLE ASK FOR is, y'know, a prereq?

That was mostly frustrated annoyance, the real boggle was the surname thing. I mean, she was coming out with fucking nesbitt. And then trying to cover with "oh some people pronounce it that way"

Yes. If you change 98% of the letters in it so it reads as "nesbitt" instead of what it actually fucking is. I've also had them randomly deciding my name is "Natalie" (Which sadly I can see, as I've had my name badly misspelled as "Nadali" before...but you know the frustrations on THAT front yerself :P)

I've got 'Nerolie' before *sigh* And 'Amy', which I can sorta see if people don't register the N or the O... but Natalie? Haven't seen that XD

Interesting fact: A guy with a malaysian/chinese background (mix of Indonesian and Chinese accents) will pronounce our name with the EXACT same syllabic stresses as a french guy from Quebec (softening and shortening of the "A", and stress on the "O")

Strange but true :)
