FCC fines ABC for indecency

Jesus fuck.

The agency proposed the highest fine possible for the broadcast, which briefly showed the side and back of a naked woman getting into a shower.

"Although ABC argues, without citing any authority, that the buttocks are not a sexual organ, we reject this argument, which runs counter to both case law  and common sense," the FCC said in its complaint.

For those of you that may think this ruling is fair, please let me elaborate.

The backside of a human being is not a sexual organ. The buttocks are are rounded portions of the anatomy located on the posterior of the pelvic region. They are composed mostly of gluteal muscles with a lovely layer of fat, and their purpose is to allow us to sit upright without putting weight on our feet. True, they do split at a point and surround a hole, but that hole is designed for the defecation of waste material. It can be used in a sexual manner, but so can the mouth, the hand, and indeed a greased up knothole in a tree. This does not make them a sexual organ. They are nothing to be ashamed of, they are nothing to be afraid of, they are part of the human anatomy.

They have been sexualised, yes, but that is due to the fact that humans, like most animals, are randy fucks. And most often due to the titillation factor of a body part usually unseen by casual clothing. Other items that have been sexualised are legs, feet, foodstuffs, languages, the entire female body and sheep.

But lastly, and most importantly

If you can't stand the site of a pair of human buttcheeks YOU SHOULD NOT BE FUCKING WATCHING NYPD BLUE. It is not a nice show. It showes the aftermath of bloody murders, horrific sex crimes, the seedy underbelly of humanity. If a human arse offends you to the point of writing a nasty letter, but the other factors waft serenely by your mental blinders, then get the FUCK out of my genepool.

Seriously. Get the fuck out.

Sex is not a dirty, filthy thing that should be fled from. Agreed, there are ages where children should remain children and not know about adult matters like that, but children of that age should not be watching fucking shows aimed at adults.

You want disgust? I have your disgust right here. It's unacceptable to see the human body in its natural form. It's unacceptable to see expressions of love between a man and a woman, or a man and a man, or a woman and a woman, or indeed a woman, man and fifteen midgets. However, seeing the human form brutalised, degraded and torn apart is classified as entertainment? Seeing animals tormented and slaughtered, weapons made with no other purpose than to take another life being glorified...this is all ok?

You disgust me. Absolutely fucking disgust me.

It's insanity. Pure insanity. I catch L&O and their offspring on the on and off 'cos torasin watches it, and seriously...they had an ep where refugees were being forced to work at illegal brothels, and one of them was dismmembered and then buried under a concrete slab.

All that Victorian/Puritan nonsense would be funny if it wasn't so ridiculous. I mean, we're supposed to be the uptight stiff-upper-lipped ones but I've seen bare arses of both genders used in commercials and nobody bats an eyelid. I suppose it's really something else to blame on The Glorious Empire On Which The Sun Never Sets Nor Shall It*. 200yrs ago the solution to unrest in the cities was not electoral reform but wholesale export of anyone aware enough to be offended and energetic enough to do owt about it (Yes, they were technically criminals, but you wouldn't believe what was counted as a crime then). 150yrs before that, after over a century of bitter divisive religious and pseudoreligious wars and judicially sanctioned setting-fire-to-people-you-don't-like it was tacitly decided that uncompromising fundamentalism was A Bad Thing, and the doctrinaire were allowed to jump to the front of the queue for the ships over the Atlantic. Yes, it's all our fault (again) and we're truly sorry (again, again)

I prefer the term "Bronzy" - it sounds sexier somehow. Possibly because it brings up mental images of a high-classed exotic dancer on a pole.
