Considering how over-the-top and crazed they seem intent on writing the Doctor, he'd fit right in

As long as he can so serious dramatic acting in between the comedy. Two and Seven had comedic leanings at times, and Six was manic, so it wouldn't be a complete stretch.

I think part of it is that Ten really strikes me as a long-haul Doctor. Nine was a super-intense, "burning twice as bright and half as long" character which served to bring the series back with a bang and then go out in one. Ten strikes me as a more balanced, nuanced, post-trauma Doctor. There are darker edges in amongst the witty banter and running away from aliens, and in general he seems a little more emotionally worn out and run-down than his younger selves, but there's a lot this Doctor could still do.
