I like to remind people on occasion (usually when they pull out the "you ain't a girl" card) that my parents raised WOMEN, not girls.
We were brought up knowing our worth was in what we could do, not what lay between our legs. And that whining wouldn't accomplish shit - get off your arse and damned well do it, or shut up.
I don't agree with some of the methods, but I must admit they did work quite effectively in most of their children :P
