Ok, so we know Sam "Every Geek Has A Hardon For Me" carter is going to be in SGA S4 for large chunks of the season, and apparently, she's not going to have the ATA. I'm assuming that the gene therapy doesn't work - we saw in It's good to be king they had to use Jack's ATA to pilot the jumper. And don't tell me she hasn't tried it, she'd be on that shit like a fat kid on a smartie.

But I read one comment in a forum (while looking for something else entirely) that just really, really pissed me off.

I don't see it being a positive/negative thing for Sam either way if she doesn't; it only becomes a positive/negative thing for the character if they make something of it...like have a piece of advanced technology which requires the user NOT to have the gene so Sam works it out and saves the team/Atlantis [good thing] or Sam is prevented from saving Atlantis because she doesn't have the gene [bad thing]\

The shit? How fucking mary sue can you get? God forbid that a fucking city stuffed full of the cream of the scientific community fix something that THE ALMIGHTY CARTER can't. And if you want the Anti-ATA hero, why the hell use Carter? WHERE'S THE RADEK LOVE???

Blind fanbrats piss me the hell off. I know, I know, probably overreacting, but damn, I really, really can't see a cause for putting her in the series apart from pure masturbatory fodder for the fanboys. Seriously. She's not there for the ratings boost - hell, SGA whooped the pants off SG:1 to the point they did a ratings booster by having the SGA cast in an SG:1 ep, ffs. And posts like that are starting to burn my cheese.

Fuck Carter. McKay is far more fun than the ultimate do-no-wrong queen of the almighty goddess shit they've turned Carter into. She's just utterly unbelievable now - espeically after half the crappy romantic arcs they've had her in. She's either kicking arse, or having every male in existence lust after her, the entire time without a flaw. Get over it, already!

I like my heroes realistic, snarky, slightly overweight and funny as hell, dammit.

I like them human.

In other news, something I'd gotten many many moons ago and had forgotten about came today! Short Trips: Monsters, Short Trips: A Universe of Terrors and Short Trips: Farewells *paggledances*

Ooh, they're all hardcovers too! *squee*
