Backlog of pics, image heavy
Anyway, on the 26th of September,
torasin, CJ and I (well mostly CJ and I as
torasin was getting a much-deserved sleep in and emerged for drilling it all together) cut and put together the base of the coffin-shaped beer esky. Yeah, I know, I fucked up the edge on the right, but the mitre saw couldn't do that angle, I'd been up 15 hours and the jig saw slipped :P

It kinda sat like that for a bit due to other circumstances that went insane but last week
torasin tooled up, kitted out, and fucking OUTDID himself adding the walls
....And then I came along and stuck a bunghole in it (the bung is actually from a busted hot water bottle :D)
We're a bit behind on this, but it's currently going through the sand/putty/sand stage before staining, then we'll put in the lining and fill it with beer.
Same day we did the coffin base, CJ and I got stuck into the tombstones. They were all made and ready for painting, so we gave them a good coat of Dulux Texture paint. Basically this shit is designed to give your wall a pebbled feel. We didn't care, it was mis-tinted, bacterial-shit green and $15 for a 25 litre tub in the "oops" aisle :D :D

As you can see, this gave it a nice cemety look and feel. After that, it was time for a fine misting over with flat white spraypaint - but not too thickly, 'cos the green really added a decrepit water stained look to the stones

...and finally the names

I am such a dork

...but so is
torasin :D

Still need to waterproof these, and pebble the tombstones with the raised elements - this has been delayed 'cos I've been fucking around with the cross:

Get your template

Pick your designs

cut them out

Glue them on
My arthritis has come back with an insane vengeance since doing this - I hand cut all the designs with a scalpel out of 5mm thick cardboard. My joints are not happy. Still, they can bitch later after I've finished the centre of the cross. Then I can paint the bugger.
Already detailed how I did them, just showing off now :D We finalised the flame forms, got the LEDS done and finished the guts:

And when the lights go off!

And the additional detailing such as foil lining, screening of the base, and overall pot painting has been done (I love clotheslines. So versatile)
2m 28mm PVC piping
1 Plastic Coathanger
2 Solar-powered lights

WTF do these three items have in common??
Cut the coathanger

Drill some holes

Stick it together

And paint the bitch

Voila. Gaslight.
(yes, yes, lawns need mowing and edging. Will do that this weekend, then let grow nice and scruffy out the front for that overgrown graveyard look)
Reaper and angel have their skeletons done, all the prework bar the duct tape body double and skeletal hands, and we're on track to mud them this weekend. Once that's done, we just need to paint them and we're done!
