I saw we let them do it. It gives us a nice big target to aim for, and saves hunting them down with dogs in the streets...
...man, I fucking hate rampant right wingers.....

Date: 2005-05-21 11:08 am (UTC)I seriously don't get these hate preachers...The entirity of Christianity breaks down into two simple messages:
God: Worship my ass! And be nice to each other, dammit
how does that translate to the rampant hate preaching you see going on? Dammit, the US is going to shit in a bucket, and they just lie back and go "heh, come the rapture I'll be laughing while you BURRRRRRN"
Fucking scary thing is, I'm probably ten times the 'christian' they'll ever be - and as far as I'm concerned, if god exists, he can go shit and fall back in it.

Date: 2005-05-22 05:11 am (UTC)It's getting scary over there in other ways too. I believe they've introduced a national ID without which you can't open a bank account, travel by air or rail or a number of other reasonably fundamental things. One of the nasty politically right wing things is the way they're aligning and and all intellectual property right s with organisations rather than individuals. I went to see Star Wars EpIII the other night and the author of the screenplay is listed as a company, not a person. Granted, it does seem in some ways to have been written by committee, but I doubt that that's actually the case. How long until the idea of an individual owning the rights to a published work seems ridiculous? And we're signing into this crap with our trade agreements.
Well I didn't expect to produce that...crap. I think I just scared myself.

Date: 2005-05-22 06:20 am (UTC)The US seems to be wavering between becoming an Orwellian society (although England is actually sneaking further ahead with their cameras everywhere and now recorders to monitor sound levels in areas) or a theocracy... Either way, it's a fucking scary concept. Especially since they've shown recently they have no qualms whatsoever about declaring war or trade sanctions in order to make everyone else fall in line with their views.
I read an interesting essay not long ago..I can never remember the fucking URLs to these things.. about how the republican party seem to be carefully crafting a society that will willingly fall into a complete obedience to the government in all things, reliquishing any personal rights whatsoever. Between our generation being set up with no social security whatsoever, the depreciating dollar and woven throughout it all the terror alerts keeping the population in fear of an unknown threat, all at the whim of the government. Rather scary...
