YES! YES! OH FUCKING YES!!

Doctor Who has a bisexual companion!!
OH GOD YES, I have been screaming this all night at work. Captain Jack Harkness, time agent, bisexual. And someone's done a Wiki on him already!!
Why am I so damned excited about this? BECAUSE IT'S ABOUT BLOODY TIME. Yes, I know gays are getting represented more and more in TV - and in good ways too (Spin City, Will And Grace, etc), and we're even seeing lesbians portrayed as normal people (At home with the Braithwaites (God I love that...no stereotypical butchdykes who would stab a man and eat his balls as soon as look at him, or so-damn-ugly-no-man-would-touch-em, just the simple fact of two women who love each other!), etc) but bisexuals?
We're the dirty little secret.
I'm not degrading the shit gays and lesbians have to go through in any way shape or form. Shit, just look at the sexual preferences of most of my friends :P I'd be beaten to death in a heartbeat! But we bisexuals to tend to be the dirty little corner of sexuality that people don't like to talk about. And I mean real bisexuals, not pretend players or one off experimenters, or the hot topic goths who go "ooh I snogged a girl, I'm so bi, do I look cool and mysterious yet?"
The militant burn the fags! straights hate us, because we're not completely straight. Rampant gays and lesbians (and yes, there are some worse than replubicans even) hate us because we're not completely queer. We sit on the fence and raid either side of it, and anyone in a 'war' as they see it hates those who won't commit to a side.
Bugger that shit. I can't speak for everyone, but I'll tell you this - I'm not bisexual because I'm curious, or because I'm scared of committing fully to a woman and going "all the way", or because I'm dabbling to run back to my safe safe mancock at the end of the day...
I'm bisexual because a persons sex, quite honestly, doesn't mean shit to me.
ok, ok, that's a bit of a broad statement, I love boobies. But I also love ze cock. But whether or not a person owns one or the other isn't really a deciding factor in a relationship for me. It's added goodies :D I'll ogle an arse, or peer at a clevage...but looking at a relationship? I tend to go for minds and souls.
Yes, I do tend to wander more over the male side of the fence. But as they said in Dogma "Women are insane". Actually, most of them are shallow minded bitches. (present company on friends list excluded :P). I don't have a stereotypical female mind. I don't care about clothes, or makeup, or this or that, for the majority the whole female world for me is rather like a baboon looking at the rosetta stone. I just dun' get it. And I tend to feel more at ease with men for these reasons.
oh, but the times I've raided the female side of the fence....Wouldn't trade them for the world!
To meander back on track...a bisexual companion. Who in thirty seconds not only compliments Rose, but makes a crack about a nice arse and grabs the decidedly male can behind him. BLATANTLY so. Oh god, I'm in heaven! FINALLY the forgotten corner is starting to emerge and the fan response hasn't been to scream after us with pitchforks and torches. We've seen more and more gays and lesbians being portrayed as normal people who simply like to shag their own sex, and now it's our time to come out and be proud.
And they're gettin' into the kids heads that this is acceptable when they're young. Best time! bwahahahhaa

Date: 2005-05-22 12:33 pm (UTC)I shop for clothes only when necessary, hate the colour pink, own one skirt which is 10 years old and never worn, and last bought makeup about 12 years ago, and have always got on better with men than women.
Good for Dr Who, I say. The fact that he is a nice bit of eye-candy doesn't do any harm either :-)

Date: 2005-05-22 12:57 pm (UTC)The whole "no time for shallow bullshit" is probably why you and I get on so well :P One day I'll appear on your doorstep and we can go out drinking :)
And I don't do pink either. (Then again, I'm a redhead, so that colour is RIIGHT out by default) Skirts? Get in the bloody way when you're hauling shit about, trying to sit on your own feet, or scrabbling under a desk for plugs. And I hate makeup. (I more hate the artifice than anything else, I suppose)

Date: 2005-05-22 01:14 pm (UTC)Yaaay! a fellow Nightwish fan! Have you ever seen them live? My god, I saw them when they played in Melbourne and damned near shat my pants..highpoints were Phantom of the opera (complete with the high pitched notes at the end) their cover of Floyd's "High hopes" and GHOST LOVE SCORE as the encore! *squee!*
pity they didn't do dead boys poem or beauty and beast though *sniffles*
I have fairly...eclectic tastes in music. Just scroll through some posts :P

Date: 2005-05-22 01:24 pm (UTC)No, I've never seen them live, I'd love to. To be honest, I don't know much about them, I just heard Dark Chest of Wonders playing in a club and it just hit me in the face with it's brilliance. I've just got a CD of random songs that a friend made me and I bought Oceanborn, and I love both those discs. Do they actually have a full orchestra with them?
My taste used to be eclectic, but in recent years I've been drawn to more 80s synthpop/80s goth bands. Nightwish are one of my favourite exceptions to that general rule!

Date: 2005-05-22 01:30 pm (UTC)Nightwish fucking ROCK live. Once (their latest album) is the only one that was done in conjuction with a full orchestra. Man, you have some albums to get! :P Wishmaster was their third album, and the one that made them big, (they also did a tour based on this album, oceanborn and angels fall first and released it on DVD and CD - "From Wishes to Eternity") Then it was Century Child, Over the Hills and Far Away, then Once.
Pity you're not in AU, I've got them all, and a burner (but nonono we never do such things, not at all...)
I'm always open to music (except R&B or rap.. that shit just pisses me off) but I'm heavily into Symphonic/Progressive metal and Electro-Industrial. (basically the same as your likes :P)

Date: 2005-05-22 03:08 pm (UTC)Really? I assumed all their stuff was fully orchestral. Yeah, I keep meaning to get more albums, but I'm really tight with money at the mo for a huge batch o' reasons!! They're definitely primary on my "to get" list though!
I'd say I'm pretty much the same when it comes to musical tastes, I really can't get into R&B or rap (although I've liked a couple of Eminem's songs), they're the only genres I really majorly steer clear of. Anything else, if I like then I like it!

Date: 2005-05-22 02:52 pm (UTC)Aside from that is a ridiclous statment(circular logic), given that both homo and bi are by far inthe minority there is still an assumption of discrete states in the argument which is somthing that I find unlikely.
Besides I look good in pink.....
And things can be functional and elegant....
you two should talk to
