It was an unusual but fun upbringing. I first caught a glimpse of Monty Python when I was four, around about the same time I was dressed up as Vyvyan from The Young Ones. With stars on the forehead. (Stickers, true, but stars nonetheless...)
one that sticks in my mind (mostly because it always cracks the hell out of torasin) is when they're getting busted for not having a TV license, so vyv throws the TV out the window...and it comes back in.
(For me, it was always Ben Elton doing Grange Hill. Oh christ that cracks me up so hard. "C'mon sir, we're the only kids in England who don't say fu-")
The Young Ones book is sitting on my Shelf of Comedy Books (which actually runs into several shelves...) and all is well with the world.
