HA
Just got the 155 parcel in the mail. Lets see what the fail meter is...
Track your water usage!
I already do that for the water AND the electricity. In fact, I coded a spreadsheet some years ago to calculate the usage and bill total. (I don't like surprise bill amounts)
Cut your shower time!
Much to his nasty surprise,
torasin has been nagged about this since our first water bill. Being a typical male, he loves to shower for exorbitant amounts of time. I consider a water bill above $30 to be bullshit. He showers every day for work, I shower when dirty (and not for that long thanks to money-saving mandates in the family home) so he sits on 5 mins for his shower during the week, and gets to shower for as long as he wants on weekends...but I hassle the shit outta him if it's longer than about ten minutes :P (He usually only showers if we've been working on something, or he's going out so it's acceptable) The four minute sand timer was a nice touch, but I bought an electronic one ages ago that makes noises when the time is up.
Exchange your shower head!
Already did that a year ago. Current rosette uses a max of 9l/m (AAA rating)
Cut one load of washing!
Did one better. Worked out that
lordstorm's washing machine we were babysitting used a whopping 117 litres per load. Fuck that off. Our one uses 58 p/l - and that's if you do a full tank and don't use eco rinse. Washing is usually two loads - ours and rats. And only the rats gets the hot wash for obvious reasons.
Install a cistern weight!
Been there done that. Got two 1l weights in there, and got the plumbers to install a lower-sitting float valve when the old one broke a few months back. As long as turds still flush, I'm happy :P
Reduce baths and divert water for the garden
Actually we have one a week (if that). And since neither of us pee in it,
torasin likes a nice soak with a beer after I've had a paddle, and then the water is used to clean the rat cage and all the ratty accessories. The garden is only watered by water we catch in pots, and we save the melted ice from parties for garden water (and what little hardware water use we have) as well. If one of us has a bath on Saturday, same thing applies, except the water is then used to mop the floors.
Suck my unit you water wasting retards!

What it should look like
What it looks like
That is the same tower in both pics.
Unless people pull their thumbs out and if we continue on this path, current conservative projections show it will be gone by May 2009.
