Laptop all set up and going and dear god, it is sweet. The screen is completely flippable - it's one of those lovely jobs where you can rotate the screen 180 degrees and clip it down so you have a (admittedly very heavy) electronic sketchpad or viewscreen. The image output rotates a full 360, so you can landscape or portrait it to full a4 size :D Gonna make a stand for it so we can laze in bed watching DVDs if we wish
Got the wireless going, after some arguments. Unfortunately the only wireless comp we have is Tapper (new laptop) and it took me ages to track down the drivers. You know you're a geek when you look at the raw hardware ID on an "Unknown Controller" and go "ok, that code = intel. that code = communications device...)
Anyway, argued a fair bit with the wireless - the fact I'd only had an hours sleep didn't help. Or the fact servers kept assploding at work. Neither did the "ah shit, do I have the right drivers? WTF is going on?" or the "we bought a really cheap wireless bridge so that could be farked" scenarios. Especially since it kept picking up the network but not CONNECTING. Turned out in the end that the "disable/Enable wireless" button on the laptop (which I hit when not in use because I'm not a FARKING IDIOT) actually turns off the farking wireless zero service. And never turns it back on. Ever. Even through a reboot. Even if it's set to automatically start. Arggh. BUT I WAS VICTORIOUS!
And
torasin is delighted, because now he can read his email on the shitter. Although the next challenge is finding out how to pry a MacID off a nokia n95, 'cos WEPS and passkeys can be broken, but hardware addresses? Not so much.
Tonight is the cisco configuring, and then our sweet, sweet network becomes even more farking epic. Mwahaha. MWAHAHAHAHA MWAHAHHAAHAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAA *cough*
o.O
I just wish I knew where the floor in my office went....
