Got bored

You DERP! I hear you cry! You can get those things for $40 a pop! Bah! You just replaced the shelves! And stuck a desk surface on it! BAHHHHH

Indeed you can those for $40 a pop. At officeworks, no less. In fact, I got two.

And had leftovers to make some spiffy new bench space in the kitchen:





See, the thing is, that bastard was 81cm wide. I needed something that was 60cm wide to match the depth of my Corner Desk of Awesomeness

So...I literally cut out 21cm from the width. On a tab and slot system. And kept the tabs

mwahhaha. Thank fuck I have a dremel.

Taped up to the cut mark, used a scalpel to cut out the tab places, then cut the excess off with a jigsaw, then tabbed it with a dremel. Then completely replaced the shelving system with parts of an old desk I found at Hard Rubbish collection, plonked on two legs and bracketed it against the shelving unit. And of course, cut the shelves and the desk surface itself to the required sizes. *Yay, circular saw!* And fitted new legs I'd gotten from an online distro for $8 each

Yup, that whole thing cost me $90. Plus the one in the kitchen.

I should add, that this week was not a good week to have migraines, hangovers, or fussy babies who are light sleepers anywhere near my house.

But I don't care, 'cos I has mah deeeeeeeesk!

Dude, My new place would be remodelled in no time! we will have POWER TOOLS!! It's every girls dream!

Only tip you will ever need:

keep everything ot its room. All bedroom stuff in one set of boxes. All kitchen stuff in another set. Mark 'em all. And then when you move in stuff X box in X room.


Oh you will have your haters, like my mother who bitched my packing was "inefficient" but who was unpacked and had a fully functional house in less than a week, I ask you? WHO? :D

Everything has been placed in it's own box and labelled, it's the only thing I can get away with and stay sane.

We shift out this Saturday and Sunday and I have no class on Monday. I will have everything up and running by the end of Monday night.

Various family members are coming to help too which is great.

I'm seriously looking forward to getting settled in the new place. Chris has the next two days off, so there is going to be some serious packing going on, mostly stuff we didn't get last week and a good head start on the gargae where things have acquired life !
