....not sure if want.

I really think that would have benefited from being a two parter. It had such promising Remembrance vibes, but kinda went a bit muddled and left a bit empty (and did anyone else see shades of Katherine from Fenric in there?)

BUT DUDE. IMPERIAL DALEKS. w00t w00t MOTHERFUCKER!! Anyone else scream that when the white fucker glided out? No? Just me? :P Although I am waiting for some new series fan to go LOL FAG COLOURS in which case I have a wide collection of 60's colour stills I shall beat them viciously with. And I must admit I went "Oh SHIT!" in that sorta half-disbelieving voice when they broke the blackout. BROKE, THE FUCKING. BLACKOUT. IN THE BLITZ. Bastards.

Oddly enough, the theme of Humans Rescuing Humans isn't grating so much this season. I suppose it's because we've had THE ALMIGHTY DOCTAAAAR shoved down our faces for so feckin' long by RTD that it's actually become a refreshing change rather than a complete Sue. But it's starting to get there a bit, so reign it back, moff. And I'm sorry, but that guy doing Churchill was just so OT he was frankly unbelievable. Although it was rather good putting that question to the Doctor after The Beast Below - it actually added an element of uncertainty, knowing how much he loathed humans on occasion to put the human race on one side, and the rest of the universe on the other (although they very carefully avoided going that far and kept it more as a vendetta)

The listen meme is very much starting to spread through now. But which words are the ones that are breaking the universe? hmmm. I wouldn't be surprised actually if there wasn't a gambit within a gambit and you find out that humanity itself is causing the cracks. LOOK AT US! WE'RE SO GREAT! AND WE'VE BUTTFUCKED REALITY! BWAHAHAA!

Then again, it could just be Moff's more optimistic approach against RTD's seeming loathing of humanity as a whole that's making me expect that :P

Sadly, the thing that grated the most for me was seeing Wagonmaster-General Runciman / Baron Vladimir Harkonnen / every other major supporting character Ian MacNiece has ever played whenever I looked at Churchill.

This probably means my Who-fu is insufficient enough to be drowned out by my English Jobbing Actor radar, but it annoyed me that I couldn't put it aside.

Harkonnen in Who. Oh god. I don't think I'm ever going to stop laughing.

I'm gonna watch it again XD it was three am when I got round to it and had spent the previous hours or five freaking out in panic attack mode so even my love of Torchwood was clouded :(

But dude there was SQUEE for the white Dalek.

Really didn't like the guy playing Churchill. The man has never been that happy in a war situation in his whole damn life (even though it's what he lived for). That and he was the guy that would terrorize new secretaries, not ask them if they were alright. I COULD HARP FOREVER ON THIS PART OF THE STORY. I did like that they gave him some humor, though. There have been too many no humor Churchill portrayals lately.

I don't think it would have benefited from being a two parter (BORING) but it did feel very rushed. Going from FUCK BLACKOUT to rainbow colored ipod Daleks... eh. I liked this one? but only because I am obsessed with WWII.

oh boy are you on the right journal... *whistles*

The colours on the Daleks are actually seriously Old Skool Canon. And it gives me some hope we might actually see SPECIAL WEAPONS DALEKS. HOOOOOOOSHIT. *lovelovelove*

The guy playing churchill wasn't anywhere near enough of a drunken prick. Dammit.

It was a total old school shout out... but for the new audience inevitably drawn to the re-boot? it was a confusing story element. NOT WELL PLAYED DW. NOT WELL PLAYED.

Well, since they've been resurrected AGAIN. There was much rejoicing.

lol, absolutely. They didn't even make any bow tie jokes! I was so disappointed!

I got the impression it was probably written as a 2-parter and then filleted, because the structure was all over the shop. Started well but there wasn't much there apart from the initial fun of 'oh look, our friendly Ironsides!' I think I might like it better on repeat viewing, but generally was v meh. PLUS GATISS MADE AMY ANNOYING. BAD GATISS. (Srsly, companions aren't just there to provide the 'emotional heart' ie girly bit in the story, you arse. Especially not if it involves 'thinking about loves defuses bombs'.)

Humanity = cracks = WIN.

I dunno, it cracked me the hell up. "Drags you across space and time, then leaves you when things get interesting!"

I agree with you; there were things I liked and things I really disliked.

Liked:
Power-ranger Daleks.
WOULD YOU LIKE A CUP OF TEEEEAAAA?
The jammy dodger.
Breaking the blackout.
The plot.
Amy's understanding of humanity being better than the Doctor's.

I didn't like that she saved the day twice in a row, but I do think this is a necessary part of Amy. This Doctor, I think, is a "split up and do your part" kind of strategist, and Amy is proving that she can do her part, which is important. However, twice in a row was a little OTT.

Dislike:
OTT Amy saving the day.
Churchill's characterisation.
THE CRACK. OKAY, MOFF, WE GET THAT THERE'S A CRACK. IT WAS MYSTERIOUS FOR TWO EPISODES, NOW IT'S GETTING ANNOYING. TRY FOR SOME SUBTLETY.
For some reason, though the plot was awesome, it was kind of... boring.

I squeed over the white Dalek like crazy, and I haven't even seen much of the old series. The episode itself was rather cheesy, but as someone pointed out on the SA forums, it's a regeneration episode for the Daleks--a system reboot that wipes the slate clean. No more twisting continuity to the bizarrest contortions in order to justify a Dalek episode. The Daleks are back, they're rebuilding their empire, and they're liable to show up just about anywhere now.

On the LOL FAG COLORS topic, you might find this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sXpInWFVVo) relevant to the conversation.

Am I the only one who gets a kick out of the idea of the Daleks genuinely wishing to become British citizens? I can just picture the lot of them serving honorably in battle, meeting a nice young woman or man and settling down to a quiet life working for the post office and puttering around in the gardern. With the Doctor going FFFF NOT RIGHT WTF YOU ARE OUT TO DESTROY EVERYTHING FFFFFFF UNADULTERED TIME LORD RAAAAAGE in the background.

Oh the colours. They look kinda like eco bins. Yellow for plastic, blue for paper...

So far episode boring, Amy's still hot.
